Revelation: God's Plumb Line of Eternal Truth
These notes from Paul Tothill are based a version of his message preached at Gateway Church on 26/5/19.
The message that Dr. Kevin Zadai brought us (during last week's conference and Sunday message) has reinvigorated many and re-established the foundational truths of Scripture. It is a necessary revelatory plumb line message we need to hear over and again and put into practice. He has left a genuine deposit we are now responsible to work with and develop together. For that reason it is my prayer that you will consider the materials, the books and the teachings that have been systematically released by Dr. Zadai. Not as a replacement or substitute for Scripture, but rather with the Holy Spirit as your teacher you may gain insight to what Jesus was emphasising and revealing to Kevin for this hour. God’s truth and ways are both simple and profound, revealed and mysteries to be discovered.
Over the course of the conference Kevin emphasised what Jesus emphasised to him during his 45 minute encounter and other visitations that he has experienced. Like Paul the apostle, there is a lot that Kevin is not permitted to release. So the clue is to look at his life and how he lives and the priorities he gives himself to as an example to follow. Kevin and Kathi Zadai are walking testimonies of the revelation and reality of the life and teaching of Jesus even as they grow into greater levels of glory and maturity. There are literally testimony upon testimony of how God has favoured them and blessed them even as the Scriptures reveal. If we are willing to listen and honour what God has done and realise God is no respecter of persons, you will realise those testimonies of Jesus are the Spirit of prophesy towards us. It is available for those who want to live a consecrated life in Christ and re-shape their priorities and be willing to deal with the flesh, living sober minded and spiritually aware in this present age.
There have been follow-up encounters and continuing emphasis of preparing a people towards maturity and being a generation who will progress in revelation to visitation leading to habitation. In numerous scriptures Jesus wanted to make this known. In his last prayer in John 17 Jesus prayed:
I pray for them to become one with us so the world will recognise that you sent me. For the very glory you have given to me I have given to them so that they may be joined together as one and experience the same unity that we enjoy!
Did you see that? The glory leads to unity. The flesh cannot lead us to unity. The flesh cannot understand the things of God. The flesh which is of this world works counter to the Spirit of God. So we need to talk about that today.
Both the glory of God defined in the Old Testament as both His manifest presence and nature and truth is revealed to us and dwells within us through the person of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit reveals both God’s love, His divine nature and His truth to us.
So the living expression ( the word- Jesus) became a man and lived among us! And we gazed upon the splendour of his glory, the glory of the One and Only
(the beloved Son) who came from the Father over-flowing with tender mercy (loving kindness and goodness hesed) and truth! John 1:14
This is the goal of Jesus’ teaching that habitation takes place, that every single believer, lives utterly yielded to the inner working and transforming power of the Holy Spirit in their lives and abiding in and obedient to the Word of God.
MARY KNEW THE HOUR TO ACT
By and large Israel failed to grasp their day of visitation. For that reason, we must be spiritually alert to what God in doing and why He is revealing these things for our benefit.
When Mary was at the wedding feast in Cana, Mary sensed something in God’s agenda and made a demand upon Jesus, not as her son I suspect, but as the Son of God. For years Mary had treasured many mysteries in her heart, but now was the time to make a demand on the coming King who was in their midst. Mary’s request activated Jesus. She made a demand on heaven. This demand commenced the work of Jesus into revealing the future Kingdom that was at hand. The first miracle Jesus did was turning water into wine at a wedding in Cana. Its significance is more than I can discuss this morning.
The point is Jesus took things out of the old into the new. He took us from the word to the Spirit of the Word, and the life of the words of God would now be revealed and administered by the new wine of Heaven. And as Jesus began so will it be in the final days. We have been both washed with the water of the word of God and brought into a new administration of the Holy Spirit. The key is that God has reserved the best wine for last!
That best wine is the wine or glory of Heaven revealed to us and formed in us by the person of the Holy Spirit as we abide in the words of Jesus. Everything moves in a cyclic progression and what founded the church in power will keep the church in power as we move into revelation, visitation and habitation, which according to Kevin Zadai other some other prophets has now begun.
God wants to make us His dwelling place. He wants His glory to be in and upon His church. And He has been preparing a place all these years where He can dwell even as we dwell in Him, living totally yielded, a life completely surrendered in love and desire to the indwelling Holy Spirit empowering us in the revelation of God’s words towards loving obedience. Just like Jesus lived when He was on earth.
WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN AN INVITATION TO MAKE A DEMAND ON HEAVEN
We therefore have an invitation today that should be approached with reverence and humility of heart. For that reason I want to bring both context and a key that both Scripture and the testimony of Kevin and Kathi Zadai as forerunners or examples point to.
Dr Kevin Zadai carries insights from Jesus to what He taught His disciples and what the early church put in place. Over the years we have tried our best to ground you in this most important message so we may all live an empowered life, with each person coming into the reality of their Books of Destiny, the perfect pleasing and acceptable will of God for our lives and so we may bring forward the Kingdom of heaven, destroying the works of the enemy as we prosecute the finished work of the Cross in to every sphere of influence God has given us.
GOD MOVES FUTURE-PRESENT
What was emphasised by Dr Zadai is what we have known at least in part. (He certainly took us into a new depth and understanding). That before we were knitted together in our mother’s womb, God had written all the days of our life concerning us. This is the reality of King David’s revelation in Psalm 139.
Lord, you know everything there is to know about me. You perceive every movement of my heart and soul, and you understand my every thought before it even enters my mind. You are so intimately aware of me, Lord. You read my heart like an open book and you know all the words I’m about to speak before I even start a sentence!
You know every step I will take before my journey begins. You’ve gone into my future to prepare the way, and in kindness you follow behind me to spare me from the harm of my past. With your hand of love upon my life, you impart blessing to me. This is too wonderful, deep, and incomprehensible! Your understanding of me brings me wonder and strength…
Where ever I go, your hand will guide me; your strength will empower me…
You formed my innermost being, shaping my delicate inside and intricate outside, and wove them all together in my mother’s womb. I thank you, God, for making me so mysteriously complex! Everything you do is marvellously breathtaking. It simply amazes me to think about it! How thoroughly you know me, Lord! You even formed every bone in my body when you created me in the secret place, carefully, skilfully shaping me from nothing to something.
You saw who you created me to be before I became me! Before I had seen the light of day, the number of the days you planned for me were already recorded in your book. Every single moment you are thinking of me! How precious and wonderful to consider that you cherish me constantly in your every thought! O’God, your desires toward me are more than the grains of sand on every shore!
When Dr Zadai went to heaven, this Psalm became real to him as Jesus stood in front of him. From his book Praying from the heavenly realms Dr Zadai says:
"I remember looking into His eyes and seeing something amazing. He remembered the day He thought of me and spoke me into existence and sent me to my mother’s womb. This is extremely important to understand because I could hear Jesus’s thoughts when I looked into His eyes. He saw that I turned out just as He desired when He spoke me into existence …"
God’s purpose is actually injected into us when we are created, along with the gifts and plans that He has for us. His purpose for His Kingdom has been placed inside of you, and this life is just a journey of discovery.
As I have long told you, your salvation is the activation of the Books of Destiny concerning your life and the progressive unlocking of God’s plans and purposes into this world. To walk in our destiny God has provided to us the eternal covenant of Christ, a born again experience and new nature, so that we can image God to the world. He has given us by His grace the promise of the indwelling Holy Spirit who will lead us into all truth and holiness, revealing the mysteries of the Kingdom realm to us and reveal also God’s perfect will for us.
As we know God has plans for us, and Satan has plans against us. God will work through the Spirit and Satan will work through the flesh. That is why the Spirit brings life and the flesh brings death to God’s perfect will for your life and the abundant overflowing life He has planned you to walk in. We therefore need to choose how we are going to live our life. Yielded and surrendered to Christ and the Holy Spirit or entangled and dominated by the world around us. The spirit of this world is not for us. It actually stands against us.
This leads us to understanding how to activate this revelatory realm. Again we have been teaching on this but most certainly Dr. Zadai and his wife Kathi model this for all to see its reality.
Prayer and obedience and walking in the Spirit are fundamental to living a Spirit empowered life that leads us into the God assignments and callings God has already determined to release us into and the gifts and anointing He has already determined for us to operate in.
It should be obvious that God is operating future-present in everything He speaks to us about, reminds us about and every word He invites us to respond to. Nothing He does and nothing He speaks is designed to do anything but establish us in Him, His promises, His blessings and our prophetic destiny- His will for our lives. He really does have a perfect Father’s heart towards us.
At the same time that God is working for our good, Satan and his tribe are working against us, to rob, kill and destroy. Satan will sometimes use a believer living from the flesh to be an instrument against other believers. He uses words against us, to cause us to doubt, to fear and to fail. His is a fallen world. In a fallen world there are fallen people who live by what Paul calls the flesh. It is a pattern of thinking and believing that is not guided by God’s truth and opposes the work of the Spirit of God.
Paul says it this way:
As you yield freely and fully to the dynamic life and power of the Holy Spirit, you will abandon the cravings of your self-life. For your self-life (flesh) craves things that offend the Holy Spirit and hinder him from living free within you! And the Holy Spirit’s intense cravings hinder your old self life from dominating you! So then, the two are incompatible and conflicting forces within you and your self-life of the flesh and the new creation life of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:16)
Peter put it this way in 1 Peter 2:11-12.
My divinely loved friends, since you are resident aliens and foreigners in this world, I appeal to you to divorce yourselves from the evil desires that wage war within you.
So to come into this destiny we need not only to be saved, we need to live out our salvation through walking with and freely yielding fully to the Holy Spirit. When we live yielded to the Holy Spirit we do so relationally in the love of the Father, and we embrace the Holiness ( complete separation from the fallen pattern of the world and its evil) of the Father. The Holy Spirit leads us into all truth and our love for Christ empowers us to obey His present words into our life.
THE KEY OF PRAYER
As I have been teaching over the last while, prayer is fundamental to us living by the Spirit and responding to the Holy Spirit. As Paul the apostle teaches and as Dr Kevin Zadai models to us, living a life of consecration through worship and prayer especially praying in tongues is fundamental to engage in revelation leading to visitation and habitation.
As a testimony that supports Scripture, Dr Zadai tells us that praying in tongues opens up not only the revelatory realms of God but also visitations and encounters with Jesus and the angelic realms. We should all realise that through revelation we step into visitations that leads to habitation. God is getting the church ready for habitation. That means the place His glory resides not just visits. God wants to dwell freely in your hearts in His fullness. And whilst this is already true it is not yet true in the fullness of His manifestation. Like Jesus we must move from being full of the Spirit to the power of the Spirit.
For that to happen the Holy Spirit prepares our hearts, deals with old wounds, wrong thinking and a self-focus bringing us to a consistent Christ focus and humility before God in reverence for the glory of His name. The Holy Spirit does not contend with our pride. Pride is of the fallen flesh. But if we humble ourselves, recognising our pride, by putting God first in everything, the Holy Spirit empowers us into revelation and manifestation.
Whilst we may be declared holy and righteous, and whilst our spirit man joined with The Father and the Son in the Holy Spirit, we are to develop relational holiness and relational righteousness where through the power of the Holy Spirit we enter into a loving yielded relationship with God as His sons who function in the assignments God has given us to bring forward His Kingdom as His image bearers into the world where ever we go. We do not live simply from our position in Christ. We live from our relationship so that we reveal God’s righteousness and authority in and through our lives. Our pulpit is our sphere of influence. For some it is in the church, for some it is in the church and in the world but for many it is in the world. Where ever you go God’s glory in you is to radiate from you. What stands in the way is the flesh. So the flesh needs to come into submission to the Spirit.
To develop the reality of the Spirit and to know things beyond what our present pattern of thinking can understand so that the mysteries of heaven can be revealed to us we need to pray in the Spirit or in tongues. Tongues prepares our heart to receive God’s present word.
The most fundamental teaching that Jesus gave the disciples was reiterated to us by Dr. Zadai as something that Jesus told him. Again, Jesus was telling Dr. Zadai what He told His apostles so as to understand how the Kingdom of God works.
The Kingdom of God is not the same as the Kingdom of heaven. The Kingdom of God is the ways of the Kingdom, the ways of God. We are to seek first the Kingdom, the ways of God and when we do, when we apply the ways of the Kingdom to our life things break forward. This is a divine pattern. The ways of God must be put before our ways or the worlds ways. In that sense then the Kingdom of Heaven is a realm, a place if you will. By understanding the ways of the Kingdom we can release the Kingdom of Heaven on earth as it already is in Heaven in accordance with the model prayer that Jesus prayed.
THE KINGDOM AND REVELATION START IN THE HEART
Now the heart is crucial to receiving the word of God that brings life. A pure heart has the ability to receive and act upon the word of God to bring forward its supernatural harvest, 30, 60 100 fold. So it is the issues of the heart, the flesh, that contaminate the heart. So praying in tongues renews our mind and restores our heart and causes it to open up as good soil to receive the present words of God that are revealed by the Spirit to our heart and that bypass and confront our intellect.
This is super-accentuated when we choose a lifestyle of prayer- praying in the Spirit with fasting.
Remember that God’s will is already established in heaven. It is already established in your spirit person or inner man. Our task through a yielded and consecrated life to the Spirit is to lay hold of it and act upon it in this life. Not only will it bring forward its fruit, it will bring forward present and eternal rewards. God is ready to act in our favour. Jesus wrote it concerning you. As you agree with it and act upon it He will establish it. He has already made up His mind to meet all our needs in the riches of Christ or the riches of His glory.
He has already made up His mind for us to succeed. Nothing is impossible for God. So we need to get out of our fallen mind and into God’s mind. We need to get out of our thoughts and into His thoughts towards us. This can only be done according to Paul the apostle through the Holy Spirit revealing things to our heart and illuminating the God words of eternal life to us.
Now let me repeat, we have an enemy in all this. And Satan will do anything He can from keeping you from learning God’s thoughts towards you. You must remember that you are living in a cosmic spiritual battle. Forces of wickedness and evil spirits or devils are trying to work against you to keep you out of the spiritual disciplines that keep you free in the Spirit, and develop and establish you in God’s purposes for your life. Dark powers work on your flesh at the same time the Holy Spirit is leading you into God’s plan for your life that you may prosper and you may affect your calling and life assignments.
UNDERSTANDING THE BATTLE
The first battle field is the discipline of prayer in and of itself. The second battle field is that you understand that prayer is powerful. Satan and his minions will tell you it is a waste of time. Your fallen flesh thinking will agree with Satan. When Dr Zadai was with Jesus, he was taken into a vision to see just how powerful prayer really was. Jesus described to him it was like an atomic bomb going off in the spirit realm with waves of impact and power destroying everything from its epicentre. That is exactly what I saw in the spirit when we were worshipping and declaring God’s heart over the nation of Australia last Saturday night. Prayer is spiritual warfare. Praying in tongues is so powerful to bring us into revelation so that we may agree with heaven and establish it on earth. It goes out like seismic waves of power destroying every obstacle and demon in its path in the unseen realm. You may be praying deep mysteries but those mysteries are power in the unseen realm!
THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints. (Ephesians 6:17-18)
We must believe we are taking a sword to all things that stand in our way and all things that are coming against us. Notice that the word of God and the sword of the Spirit are synonymous. Prayer is an advancing posture, it is an offensive attack on powers that are holding things up and working against us. That is why Satan will want to stop you from praying. That is why he will tempt you to stay away from a corporate prayer meeting when people are joining in one heart towards advancing the Kingdom and unlocking prophetic and strategic plans of God. Prayer alone is powerful. How much more when we come together with a sincere heart! We are driving back darkness and opening up the revelatory realms for the Holy Spirit to show us things and release His interceding prayers before the Father.
The Holy Spirit will lead you into the will of God.
Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. (Romans 8:27)
Remember the Holy Spirit is working in us and with us to pray effectively. Sometimes that means we need to use words of the Spirit not words we understand so that the deep mysteries of God can be revealed to us and break forward from us and around us.
Our goal therefore should be to pray into God’s heavenly realm and from God’s heavenly realm and to live from that realm also by walking in the Spirit. Remember we pray from fullness and all that has been established in Christ as dearly loved sons and daughters of God. God hears and wants to establish our prayers. But we must do our part. It is part of our relationship with God. You have to ask. Now asking means to make a demand upon what is legally yours. You are not begging, you are not hoping, you know what is available to you and if not the Holy Spirit will reveal those things to you. You are to do warfare with the prophetic words that God has spoken over you and towards you. He is ahead of every situation. Look at how Paul teaches this.
Those who are motivated by the flesh only pursue what benefits themselves. But those who live by the impulses of the Holy Spirit are motivated to pursue spiritual realities. For the mind-set of the flesh is death, but the mind-set controlled by the Spirit finds life and peace. In fact, the mind set focused on the flesh fights God’s plan and refuses to submit to his direction, because it cannot!
And in a similar way, the Holy Spirit takes hold of us in our human frailty to empower us in our weakness. For example, at times we don’t even know how to pray, or know the best things to ask for. But the Holy Spirit rises up within us to super-intercede on our behalf, pleading to God with emotional sighs too deep for words. God the searcher of our heart, knows fully our longings, yet he also understands the desires of the Spirit because the Holy Spirit passionately pleads before God for us, his holy ones, in perfect harmony with God’s plan and our destiny.
So we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together to fit into God’s perfect plan of bringing good to our lives for we are his lovers who have been called to fulfil his designed purpose.
1 CORINTHIANS 14:4
The one who speaks in tongues advances his own spiritual progress while the one who prophesies builds up the church.
Pray passionately in the Spirit, as you constantly intercede with every form of prayer at all times.
But you, my delightfully loved friends, constantly and progressively build yourselves up on the foundation of your most holy faith by praying every moment in the Spirit. Fasten you hearts to the love of God and receive mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ who gives us eternal life.
Remember we are praying in a way that is asking God to fulfil our prayers. If our prayers are consistent with His will concerning us we know He will answer them. We are praying in accordance with what He has already determined to release. Now we must understand the most effective way to do this is by Spirit empowered prayers and also praying in tongues or by the Spirit. To repeat, the word “ask” actually carries the meaning of demand. We are making a demand of what is already ours in Christ Jesus, in much the same way we would go to a teller and present a withdrawal slip or go to our ebanking and draw from our account. God has no limit to His ability to provide all that He has already determined to release towards us. The hold-up is not God hearing us and responding, but the spiritual battle that the Book of Daniel tells us about. The battle rages to stop us praying, to stop us asking, to stop us knowing and understanding, and to stop God’s supply. But God always gets it to us just on time according to His timing, not ours.
So this is an important take away from our time with Kevin Zadai. It is something that it seems the Holy Spirit is getting us to act upon. Now is the time for action. To yield fully and freely to the Holy Spirit within us.
